Pelican

“Pelican”
According to legend, the Pelican would prick herself and feed her blood to her hatchlings. For me, the pelican is the symbol of nurturance, a necessity for the creative soul who is constantly battered by outside forces and people.

Love the image, Lori. I remember when I was in Northern California watching the pelicans by the hour.

Be sure to remember to nurture yourself as you nurture others!
The image is captivating, almost like crohet or lace!

A real beauty, Lori. I was quite taken with heraldry for awhile and I remember the image of the pelican piercing herself to feed her chicks. Called a pelican in her piety it was often used as a symbol for Christ.

Great image–the pecten is the perfect background for the pellican. And the colors give is a whole other image. The mandala effect is also perfect for the spiritual quest.

There are some amazing facts about creatures aren’t there. Thanks for sharing this one.

I have watched pelicans, on the river and on the quiet lake, so lovely in flight-and so special in your beautiful rendering. Fran
