An ATC day

with 11 comments

A friend of mine is not so well at the moment. She loves colour, it makes her happy, so I decided to make a small book into which I will set the following ATCs. I hope it brings her some cheer.

Hand-dyed fabric, couched fibre and hand stitching.

Left: machine-appliquéd batik scraps; Right: layered fabrics with applied fibres.

Left and Right: Acrylics, pen and ink; Centre: couched fibres.

Left: mono-printed fabric, machine stitched; Centre: layered papers and fabric with couched fibres; Right: hand-painted paper by Laura Hegarty with machine applied pieces.

Left: hand-painted silk, centre quilted and machine stitched; Centre: felted dyed wools with couched thread; Right: mono-printed fabric with couched fibres.

Left: Layered fabrics and silk-tops, machine and hand stitching; Right: mixture of couched fibres.

It was fun to play this way, experimenting on a small scale.

  3. Hi, Jill. These are beautiful. I think it is wonderful that you make the effort to create something daily. I don’t always have the time to do it daily but I try as much as I can. You are an inspiration.

  4. I’m sure these lifted your spirts as much as they will lift hers. Art is healthy for everyone involved in the process, from the maker to the giver to the receiver. Even to conceive of creating art in the future fills voids in me! I can imagine how such fun work as this has fed you. Keep on.

  5. Oooh thank you so much for your comments - I really do appreciate them, they so encourage me.

Thanks Lori, I try to do something each day but my energy comes and goes so whilst it is up I do as much as I can, which means there is often a glut and then a dry period lol.

Thank you all….I am so pleased I joined this group..you are all such fabulous people.

  7. This work is simply magnificent Jill and I am so pleased that you are showing it off in this primary blog. The Pythian Games is really gaining momentum and a diversity of posts makes it all the more exciting, especially when I open up and show things to teachers who need to be lured to use this technology more. Thank you.

  11. Jill, I find my creativity cycles ebbs and flow, and I think that’s just a natural part of the process, of Our Way.
